What is Combination?
Combination is the process of creating, upgrading, alterering and enhancing existing items or new items using other items as ingredients. Combinations can be carried out using the Armory NPC in towns. There are different type of combinations.
Combination Ingredients
Long ago, a tribe has arrived at Hellmarsh and they bring with them these mysterious stones. They have got immense popularity among the people in hellmarsh and were initially used as amulets. Today, runes are identified with the pattern engraved in them. There are 10 kinds of runes.
Combination Procedure
Inorder to perform combinations, you will have to visit the Armory NPC in the respective town.
Interact with the NPC and click on Open NPC window to open the NPC window.
1. Base Rune Combination
Among the 10 runes that are available, there are three kinds of runes which serve as the base runes for determining the combination pattern according to their arrangement. They line up from the left and they are Ur (1), Thorn (2) and Ken (3).
2. Combination Items
Place the rest of the runes that are required and the any additional items which are required for the combination except the first 3 runes. These slots contain the actual items which are required for creating
3. Item to Modify
Place the item that you wish to modify incase you are Reloading or Adding options.
Types of Combinations
Crafting
Crafting is the process of creating new weapons, armors and items using the Armory NPC. There would be several ingredients required for crafting and these change with respect to the weapon or armor that you are willing to create.
The image above depicts the crafting of Oroje Sword which is a Grade 10 sword. There are 5 ingredients including a Grade 9 Sword required for the crafting procedure.
Upgrading
Using combinations, you can upgrade your Weapons and Armors which will increase the Level of the Item by 1 each time. You can reach a maximum of Level 10 for Armors and upto Level 15 for certain weapons.
The above image shows the combination required to upgrade Oroje sword by Level 1. Note that this combination is destructive and failure of the combination will destroy the item.
Adding Options
You can use combinations to add an option to the your Weapon or Armors. The options include the following.
- Additional Attack for Weapons and Additional Defense for Armors
- Blessing for Weapons and Armors
- Item Mounting requirement reduction for Grade1 ~ Grade8 Weapons and Armors.
- Evasion, Magic Evasion and Accuary for Pants.
- Critical hit rate, Critical hit evasion and WZ acquisition for Boots.
- MP Absorption, HP Absorption and HP/MP Usage for Skills for Helmet
- Skill Duration, Basic Attack and Magic Attack for Gloves

Reloading
Reloading can be used to increase the existing options that you have on your armors. You can reload all of the options except the Additional Attack/Defense and Elemental Attack and Defense on Weapons and Armors. After reloading, the value of the option could increase, decrease or remain the same.
